DATA ENGINEER

Are you a skilled and detail-oriented Data Engineer? Join our data team and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of our data infrastructure. As a Data Engineer, you'll build scalable and efficient data pipelines, ensuring data accuracy and availability for analysis and reporting. Your expertise in data processing, ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes, and database technologies will be instrumental in supporting our data-driven initiatives.


Responsibilities:


  • Collaborate closely with data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and objectives.
  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
  • Develop and maintain data integration solutions to consolidate data from various sources into a centralised data warehouse.
  • Implement data validation, cleansing, and enrichment processes to ensure data quality and accuracy.
  • Optimise data processing and storage solutions for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Work with big data technologies and tools to manage and process large volumes of data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data availability and accessibility for analytics and reporting purposes.
  • Design and maintain data models and schemas to support analytical and reporting needs.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline performance and resolve data-related issues.
  • Implement data security and privacy measures to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging data technologies, and best practices.
  • Document data processes, architecture, and technical specifications.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. Relevant work experience can be considered.
  • Proven experience as a Data Engineer or similar role, with a strong understanding of data processing and ETL concepts.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or similar.
  • Experience with data processing frameworks and tools, such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, or similar.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing solutions and database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
  • Strong SQL skills for querying and manipulating data.
  • Knowledge of data modeling, schema design, and data normalisation/denormalisation.
  • Experience with data integration and transformation tools (e.g., Apache NiFi, Talend, Informatica).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and their data services.
  • Understanding of data security and privacy best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills to convey technical concepts and collaborate with stakeholders.
