DATABASE DEVELOPER

Are you a skilled and detail-oriented Database Developer? Join our team and contribute to the design, development, and optimisation of efficient, scalable, and reliable database solutions. As a Database Developer, you'll play a vital role in creating and maintaining database systems that support our applications and data-driven initiatives. Your expertise in database design, optimisation, and query performance tuning will be instrumental in ensuring the integrity and accessibility of our data.

Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate closely with application developers, data analysts, and stakeholders to understand data requirements and objectives.
2. Design and implement database schemas, tables, views, and stored procedures that meet application and business needs.
3. Develop and optimise SQL queries for data retrieval, manipulation, and reporting.
4. Ensure data integrity, consistency, and security by implementing appropriate database constraints and access controls.
5. Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimise query performance.
6. Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues, such as data corruption or performance degradation.
7. Participate in the design and implementation of data integration solutions and ETL processes.
8. Perform data migrations, backups, and recovery procedures as needed.
9. Stay informed about industry trends, emerging database technologies, and best practices.
10. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data availability and accessibility.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant work experience can be considered.
2. Proven experience as a Database Developer or similar role, with a strong understanding of database design and optimisation.
3. Proficiency in SQL and experience working with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
4. Familiarity with database modeling, normalisation, and data warehousing concepts.
5. Experience with performance tuning, indexing, and query optimisation.
6. Knowledge of database security principles and access controls.
7. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues.
8. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail in database design and development.
9. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts.
10. Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra) is a plus.
11. Experience with data integration and ETL tools is a plus.
